Chris Carnes Retro Websites | the 90s
Sites I made back in the 2000’s or so. Before WordPress, before CSS, before I had any of the modern tools that are available today, when you had to either hand code or use templates to build a site. FTP was the word(s) of the day & flash was still being used as well.
Here are a few that I built. Keep in mind that these are not quite ‘live’ so some of the things will not work, but they are still fun. I have lost a few, like my USA Olympics fan site that was so awesome the US Olympic Committee called me to get me to change some copyright & other items they didn’t like. True story.
The “bad site” still takes a while to load, even with the high speeds of today. Back in the day it would freeze or even crash browsers. I built it with .HTML & JavaScript, it was hard to get the editor to keep functioning while I was doing it.
Xiratorst is a fictional energy drink where all of the natural ingredients are poisonous. I worked with a girl that drank a ‘vitamin’ drink that had lead in it. No joke.
Poink is a funny word & an even funnier fragrance, drink, lotion, nail polish, well I’m not even sure what it is but make no mistake, it is a Tempest in a bottle.
Pet Vet Online shows just what can be accomplished with online sales. Mail in your pets & get them fixed, what could be more convenient? Not everything needs to be online & not everything online needs to make money.
Super Happy Fun Pizza is a catchy name for sure. Eating meat is bad for you & the planet. I just wish we never started it in the first place, and that I could stop.
FYI:
I lost my ChrisCarnes.com site in 2013. I forgot to renew it & some foreign asshoes got it. They eventually gave up trying to sell it to me (for $2,500) & let the renewal lapse. I got it back, for $14 in 2021.
Thank you for stopping by.
