Help I Need Somebody Cool 5th Beatles LP

Before you correct me, I know it is ‘HELP!” but that messes with my URL naming as well as the SEO designed to please the Google machine.

Help I Need Somebody, not just anybody

The Beatles were writing more of their own music, instead of relying on playing cover songs. I suspect that management was trying to get them to record covers, instead of writing their own music to be a ‘safer’ bet than unknown tunes.

This album was released on 6 August 1965, and supported a film also titled ‘Help!’. Half of the songs (seven all from side one album), including singles “Help!” and “Ticket to Ride”, appeared in the film.

Strangely, I like almost all of the songs on side one, but just a few from side two. There are two cover songs on ‘Help!’ and they both appear on side two. One of the covers ‘Act Naturally, one of the few sung by Ringo Starr, is a pretty good song.

Here are the ones I like.

  • Songs I like 4: “Help!”, “You’re Going to Lose That Girl”, “Act Naturally” & “Dizzy Miss Lizzy”
  • Songs I Love 3: “The Night Before”, “You’ve Got to Hide Your Love Away” & “Ticket to Ride”
  • This one is amazing: “Yesterday”, an incredibly beautiful song by McCartney.
  • The others are kind of “meh.”

Help I need somebody, not just anybody, but the Beatles. That’s who I need.
