Beatles Revolver Changed Everything Great 7th LP

Revolver came out on August 5, 1966; the day before I was born. Strange coincidence that this is my favorite Beatles record.

with Violins, Cellos & Sitars, oh my.

They finally got around that corner, leaving the ‘bubblegum’ behind them. Now it feels like they were really controlling their sound. Thier creativity came through in ‘Revolver’ more than the first six offerings. They started to really show how amazing they were.

I only dislike one song, out of fourteen. There is also my favorite Beatles song of all time, “Tomorrow Never Knows”. The production that went into that one song was off the charts at the time. The lyrics were adapted from Timothy Leary’s book ‘The Psychedelic Experience: A Manual Based on the Tibetan Book of the Dead‘.

This is by far one of their best LP’s. Also, it has the greatest song ever sung by man; “Yellow Submarine“. Period.

You should experience that one live from one of the great Beatles cover bands. It is so fun to hear everyone singing along with ‘Ringo‘ and the diehard fans yelling things like: “out the escape route” & “surface, surface”. That is usually me yelling.

There is another thing.

Beatles Revolver Changed Everything in the cover art world too. Up until now everyone just put a picture of their band & the name on LP’s. The Beatles decided to change that & be the first to not conform to stuffy formats like that.

There is a lot going on in that cover besides the line drawings of the “Fab Four”. This one had all kinds of stuff in miniature collages in between the larger faces. There were tiny little Beatles in different poses and outfits, disembodied heads, even one coming out of Paul’s ear.

Here are the ones I love, like & don’t care about.

  • Songs I like 4: “Here, There and Everywhere”, “And Your Bird Can Sing”, “Doctor Robert” & “Got to Get You into My Life”
  • Songs I love 7: “Taxman”, “Eleanor Rigby”, “Yellow Submarine”, “She Said She Said”, “Good Day Sunshine”, “Love You To” & “I Want to Tell You”
  • Not my style 1: “I’m Only Sleeping”
  • Amazing songs 1: “For No One”
  • Next level crazy good song 1: “Tomorrow Never Knows”

Beatles Revolver Changed Everything about the way we view and listen to music. Real artistic creativity was unleashed on the world.

the world would never be the same.
