The Dumbest Thing I Ever Did | Reverend Chris

What happened?

On the November 7th of 2024, at 58 years old, I tried to kill myself (and no it was not a cry for help).

I just didn’t feel like there was a path forward, anymore.

Luckily there were MANY people who disagreed & wanted me to stick around.
Thank you to the fire/EMS & to all the amazing (you know who you are) nursing staff members at St Francis Hospital.

As I recover, I am going to make a record of my experience & my journey forward.

Don’t try what I did, it really is a terrible idea.

Let It Be, amen!

The “Let It Be” story that is currently streaming is a fascinating look into the writing process of the Beatles. The documentary shows the creative process of one of the most famous bands. We see a fun, happy band. There were cracks though & George Harrison quit the band part way through.

The album is pretty good & has my favorite Beatles song ever, the title song Let It Be. I love the documentary, the rooftop concert & the record.

Abbey Road is here, start the conspiracies

Wow, 17 songs on one album & I like all but 2. Abbey road was released in 1969, so was Yellow Submarine & in 1970 Let It Be came out. That’s right, the recorded 3 albums in one year. Hats off to those guys, they were a hit song writing machine.

The cover fired up a huge conspiracy the Paul McCartney actually died & was replaced with someone that looked like him. Oh yeah, he also wrote songs as well as the original Paul did. Geez, these things are stupid.

We All Live in a Yellow Submarine

I wish we did, there was love in that Yellow Submarine.

So this is a strange album, for sure. There are only 5 songs on the frontside (for those who know vinyl) & the back side has 7 instrumentals that were meant for a movie or something. Needless to say it never got made, bummer.

The front has 3 good songs one of them, It’s All Too Much” seems closer to a more modern rock song than one from the 60’s.

The back side is actually really good background music. The kind you listen to while Fu*****.

White is My Favorite Color

The Beatles (White Album)

I guess they ran out of colored markers making the Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band album. No colors on here but white. Hopefully they go to the sore & get some colors for the next record.

It’s a good double LP, but it should have been trimmed to a single. Some of the songs on there are just terrible. I would cut 11 out of the 20 songs on the album.

It does, however, have the amazing cut “While My Guitar Gently Weeps”. That is one of the coolest songs ever.  And don’t forget the hilarious: “The Continuing Story of Bungalow Bill” & “Rocky Racoon”.

We’re Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band

Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band, an amazing album & a funny (albeit cheesy) movie.

The record has 13 songs& I like most of them, one I’m not wild about Sgt. Pepper reprise. They saved all of their crayons from the White album to use on this one. Try to figure who all of the people are on it.

The movie is a bit goofy, but it is fun to watch if you love Beatles music. It has quite an eclectic cast: the Bee Gee’s, Peter Frampton, George Burns, Steve Martin, Aerosmith, Alice Cooper, Earth Wind & Fire, Billie Preston & more. If you love Beatles music it is worth it to see Steve Martin play Maxwell Edison.

Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band

We did enjoy the show; John, Paul, George & Ringo. Thanks.

Step Right Up for the Magical Mystery Tour

This is one of the wackiest album covers I have ever seen, just cool & fun. Groovy!

There are several great songs on here, but one really stands out, I Am the Walrus.

John Lennon found out that some teachers were analyzing Beatles song lyrics in their classes. So he set out to write the most nonsensical song he could. He succeeded, but also got a really good song out of it. Just goes to show that even when they were trying to be silly, the Lennon-McCartney writing was the best ever.

Shot by Revolver

Violins, Cellos & Sitars, oh my.

They finally got around that corner, leaving Bubblegum Alley behind them. Revolver came out on August 5, 1966; the day before I was born. Strange coincidence that this is my favorite Beatles record. They started to really show how creative they were. I only dislike one song, out of fourteen. There is also my favorite Beatles song, “Tomorrow Never Knows”. This is by far their best LP. Also, it has the greatest song ever sung by man; “Yellow Submarine”. Period.

There is another thing. Up until now everyone just put a picture of their band & the name on LP’s. The Beatles decided to change that & be the first to not conform.

Beatles for Sale

The Beatles fourth album. What can I say? It’s not good. I only like 2 songs on this one. If John, Paul, George & Ringo are for sale I’m not buying. Beatles for Sale, ugh.

Please Please Me With the Beatles

Please Please Me With the Beatles, sounds kinky.

These are the 1st & 2nd Beatles (depending on the country) & I just have to say they suck. I love the Beatles for sure, but I call them like I see them. They are mostly “bubblegum” pop & remakes.

I don’t fault them for that. Those sappy love songs got millions of girls to fall in love them. That got them their start & set them on the path to stardom.
