My Views on Religion | 99% Negative

My Views on Religion are clear.

When I talk about my views on religion, I am talking about “organized religion” I do not think religion in itself is necessarily bad. I think the “for profit” churches are bad. I think cults are bad. I think zealots are bad. I really think fundamentalists are terrible.

But your typical people going to church on Sunday are not bad. They be misguided & confused but not bad.

There are so many different religions in the world, how do you know which one is the “right” one?

Simple: They all are. And none are.

There are a lot of elements from different religions that are very good for mankind. There are equally, if not more so, bad elements. Remember Jim Jones & the poison Flavor-Aid? How about the Heavens Gate suicides? Or the Crusades? These atrocities all took place in the name of religion.

Killing in the name of [insert deity here], is still killing. There is no way of getting around that face. The commandment reads “Thou shall not kill.” It doesn’t say it’s ok if the people won’t follow your views. It doesn’t say it is ok if it is for a religious ceremony. It is pretty clear.

There has been more turmoil over the simple name of God, than almost anything else. I believe that God does not really care if you call him God, Buddha, Jehovah, Allah, or any other name man has thought of. If God is omnipotent, then what would that matter?

Something so trivial would not even enter into the equation. God, no matter what name we call him, would not concern himself with a name. I seriously doubt that such an entity would even require a name at all. He certainly wouldn’t care about my views on religion.

It is that reason that I believe all religions are correct in the belief in a supreme being, a creator of everything. I also believe that they are mistaken about the details of such a being. Such a thing would, in reality, be completely incomprehensible to normal men.

That is why we have made up so many different versions of the same truth. Truly, how could we ever write about something that we cannot even understand. Until we pass on to the next world, we will never understand these things.

So, trying to assign a religion to them is a fruitless undertaking, that we will never get right. I also think that my views on religion are becoming more popular and mainstream. Gone are the days when you could just yell Satan and people would be terrified to the point of joining your cult.

Young people today are much too savvy as well as informed to fall for those things. Now, when you tell someone something, they can literally fact check you in real time.
